Metro BEST (Self-guided) Ride: Remembering Dr. King in LA

The ride will feature six different locations that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visited during some of his trips to Los Angeles, inspired by Gustavo Arellano’s list and map of Dr. King's visits for Curbed Los Angeles in 2017. This 7-mile ride starts at Exposition Park and makes its way south, with a turnaround point at the South Los Angeles Wetlands Park.

Acknowledging Victims of Traffic Violence

Two cyclists were killed in a car crash on January 4, 2022 at the intersection of Plummer Street and Lurline Ave. Mathew Zink, 58 years old was riding with a pregnant friend when the driver struck them. Both were pronounced dead on the scene. The friend has not yet been identified. Nelson is in custody and has been linked to other collisions that occurred that same evening. Read more here.

This is a space for Angelenos to remember and honor those who have passed while riding in LA, for whatever reason. If you would like to share a few words about someone you know that passed away while riding, please in this form. We will be sharing a couple of these remembrances in each newsletter.
