Institute of Contemporary Art - Vaginal Davis Style LA Bike Tour

Discover the city through the lens and memory of artist Vaginal Davis — an iconic cultural figure whose work, rooted in performance, adopts notions of freakiness to dismantle cultural norms around gender, sexuality, and race. In collaboration with Davis, ICA LA will have a free ‘zine featuring several bike/walk routes accompanied by an audio playlist with recordings of the artist describing neighborhoods where she would bike, perform, and play in her years in Los Angeles. The ride is approximately 7.5 miles long with several stops. Check-in and exhibition tour at 1pm. Ride promptly at 2pm.

Metro to host Virtual Workshop on Gender Action Plan

Metro will host a live, virtual workshop on Tuesday, November 16, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to share updates on the Gender Action Plan (GAP), a plan currently in progress based on the recommendations from the 2019 Understanding How Women Travel (UHWT) study.

The UHWT study was the first step in Metro’s process to better understand and better serve the needs and preferences of women riders. The GAP will recommend specific actions to improve the travel experiences on our system for people who identify as women. The GAP is being crafted to identify immediate opportunities and long-term actions that will support gender equity goals for Metro.

Reflecting on the Past, Hoping for the Future: Climate Change Demands Us to Act Now

The mostly undeveloped land known as Griffith Park offers a glimpse into prehistory through the striking story its geology tells (if you know where to look). The park is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year, and this 16.4 mile ride offers a chance to explore the many iconic features of the park without dealing with the similarly iconic traffic, especially during special events and on the weekends.
