Metro is working with local non-profit bike organizations to help make bicycling safer in Los Angeles by conducting bicycle traffic skills classes and sponsoring community rides countywide. These safety education classes and rides are free to the public.

Complete the RECHARGE Challenge: 31 miles in the month of June

We’ve broken it down for you with our week-to-week badges! Pay homage to one of these waterways every week, and you’ll be right on track:

Week 1: Aliso Creek, 8.5 miles

Week 2: Compton Creek, 8.5 miles

Week 3: Burbank Western Channel, 6.3 miles

Week 4: Ballona Creek, 8.8 miles

Not all of the waterways featured will have accompanying bike infrastructure. We don’t expect you to make your way to each of these waterways, but we want to encourage you to complete one waterway distance each week. If you follow and complete our waterway badge distances from week to week you’ll be right on track to meet your distance goal. Stay tuned for more info on each of the challenge badges.

Meet Eboni

Eboni Batie is a seasoned politico with a diverse background in social work and public policy. Raised in Southern California, she recently joined LACBC as the Director of Development, focused on fundraising efforts. Over the past decade, she has spent time working with Members of Congress, led diversity and inclusion efforts, fundraised for non profits, and worked in government affairs. Eboni began her career in social work and is passionate about improving the socioeconomic circumstances of people in marginalized communities by advocating on their behalf and developing strategic plans to improve their quality of life.

Metro's Transit App now displays COVID-19 vaccination locations

Thanks to a collaboration with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Metro’s official app, Transit, is now displaying locations across L.A. County where residents and workers age 16 and older can get vaccinated against COVID-19.

This is a space for Angelenos to remember and honor those who have passed while riding in L.A., for whatever reason. If you would like to share a few words about someone you know that passed away while riding, please click here. We will be sharing a couple of these remembrances in each newsletter.

 
 
 

Two Unnamed People, Killed on 4/4/21. Ages Unknown. 
BikinginLA reports that two men were struck and killed by two separate drivers on PCH just west of Busch Drive. One of them was walking their bicycle when they were hit, the second was hit trying to pick up the first person's belongings.

Unnamed Person, Killed on 4/10/21. Age Unknown. 
A cyclist was struck by a driver on PCH and Corral Canyon on Saturday night, April 10. 

No updates so far on the victims names, or the names of those who killed them.
